CHATHAM – “The Perfect Couple,” the Netflix limited series that was filmed in town last year, will be released on Sept. 5.

Netflix released a teaser trailer for the show Thursday that features many recognizable local scenes.

Based on the 2018 book by Elin Hilderbrand, the story of a family wedding gone bad takes place on Nantucket but was shot largely in Chatham, with a waterfront estate in the private Eastward Point neighborhood serving as the main set.

Other local scenes recognizable in the trailer include the Chatham Beach and Tennis Club and the faux “Nantucket Police Department” created at the Northport Plaza in North Chatham in space now occupied by Elwood’s Raw Bar.

The series features a number of top Hollywood stars, including Nicole Kidman (also a producer, along with Nantucket-based Hilderbrand), Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Eve Hewson. Also appearing are Jack Raynor, Billy Howle, and Isabelle Adjani.

Filming was disrupted last year by the Writers Guild of America strike, with picketers closing down the Eastward Point set as well as the production’s base in East Harwich. Filming reportedly concluded in Nantucket and other eastern Massachusetts locations.
