More Than 200 Compete in Chatham Harbor Run
CHATHAM – On Sunday, more than 200 people took part in the 43rd annual Chatham Harbor Run presented by the Cape Cod Athletic Club.
Vincent Thomas, a 29-year-old Boston resident, finished first after completing the 10-kilometer course in 34 minutes and 40 seconds. Alexander Simpson, 21, of Ithaca, N.Y. finished second just four seconds after Thomas, followed by third-place finisher James Weissensel, a 30-year-old from Park Ridge, Ill. who finished in 34:47.
Cathryn Williams, a 37-year-old from Grafton, was the first female finisher after completing the course in 46:04. Jenna Panepinto, 30, of Boston was the second female after reaching the finish line in 46:52, followed by Erin Lyons, a 28-year-old from East Falmouth who finished in 47:12.
The race, which raises funds for Monomoy Dollars for Scholars through the CCAC’s scholarships, attracted participants from 19 states ranging in age from 8 to 84.
Finishers basked in the glory of not only the beautiful course, but also shiny medals that were distributed once they crossed the finish line.
Those who compete in the Chatham in the Fall 10K after competing in Sunday’s race will receive another medal or challenge coin to commemorate finishing both races.
