Chamber's Beer & Bones Competition A Great Success

by William F. Galvin

HARWICH – The weather cooperated, making for a great day on Saturday for the second annual Beer & Bones Competition put on by the chamber of commerce under the tents in the field behind the community center.

“It was quite the success at our second annual barbecue event -great weather- fabulous people, young and young at heart. The music from Canney Dean had them dancing and the amazing barbeque and beer was enjoyed by all,” said Chamber Executive Director Cyndi Williams of the event.

Williams said Red River Barbeque took home first place in the ribs and brisket categories of the competition. Orleans based Navillus Bar & Grill was the winner of the chili competition and placed second in the brisket competition. The chicken wings honor went to 400 East Restaurant and Bar with The Lanyard Bar & Grill taking second place.

Participants had a great afternoon tasting the creative libations of Devil’s Purse, Cape Cod Beer and Hog Island breweries.

Williams said she was very pleased with the response to the competition and has already started planning for next year’s event.
