Revolutionary War Encampment Takes Over Windmill Village
May 21, 2025
BREWSTER – On Sunday, the Brewster Colonial Artillery Company took over the Brewster Historical Society’s Windmill Village, adjacent to Drummer Boy Park.
Re-enactors dressed in period attire demonstrated the unit’s muzzle-loading cannon, “Alice,” and fired the muzzle-loading musket known as “Brown Bess.”
Attendees received lessons in writing with a quill pen, playing trap ball (a form of colonial baseball) and had the opportunity to speak with militia members about Colonial life, the Cape’s role in the Revolution and the resulting Republic’s evolution as a nation.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
