This summer has been a busy time for Josh and Sarah Koopman; granted summer is a busy time for any Cape Cod restaurant, but these two have been extra busy. “Yes, we opened a third location in Dennis Village and finished off the bar area on the lower level at the Orpheum,” said Sarah.

Sarah and her husband Josh opened their first location in Harwich in July 2020, “Yep, right in the midst of the pandemic!” And taking over the restaurant facility in the Orpheum Theater soon followed. The Orpheum is a perfect fit for Josh with his theater and film background; his film “How To Rob” was shown there last year.

“Josh came up with the name, Pizza Shark. People love it!” Pizza Shark is more than a cute name though; the food is delicious. “We make everything fresh; we roast the chicken, make the meatballs, etc.,” she said. The two of them “bounce around to all three locations, we’re able to do that because we have a great staff. We have 35 year-round employees. We pay them what they deserve, we pay them well. And we love seeing them succeed. Two of our employees recently bought homes on the Cape.”

Their pizzas are very popular, each cleverly named. A personal favorite of mine is their signature one, The Great White (garlic, ricotta, buffalo mozzarella and basil) and I recently discovered the Goblin Shark (their cheese blend with chopped chicken, bacon and a drizzle of ranch dressing, we added broccoli at a friend’s suggestion). There are many more pizza options on their menu (the Sand Shark, Tiger Shark, Megalodon, Deep Blue Shark, etc.) , and in the Chatham location slices are always available either for the movie goers or the patrons downstairs watching the game. “We have eight TVs in the downstairs lounge, three at the bar and a TV at each booth,” said Sarah. “Matt Vazquez is our bar manager and he has created a great menu with old-fashioned cocktails and new ones too.” They have the NFL ticket here too.

There are sandwiches (meatball sub, Shark Cuban, chicken Parm, Buffalo chicken and more), salads and desserts on their menus along with the pizzas. The slices in the warmers are on a timer and replaced often so they’re always fresh. Sarah said that some movie goers order a whole pizza when they go in the theater and then it’s ready to bring home when they leave. What a great idea!

The lower level lounge is available for holiday parties this season. It’s a fun space to have a party for sure, or stop in for a drink and watch the game. Be sure to check out the bar top! The entire area is festive! See you there tonight!
