Minding Your Business- Thanks To Our Advertisers In The Christmas Gift Guide
It’s that cozy and crazy time of year again on Cape Cod when the holiday lights go up, Santa comes to town, holiday strolls kick off and The Chronicle’s annual Christmas Gift Guides are published. The advertising sales team in the office, which includes Ashley Rorro, Justin Alex and myself, consider ourselves especially fortunate to live and work in a community with such a vast array of local businesses. These shops and companies are vital to our local community and economy. Here at The Chronicle, we are dedicated to letting all of our readers know how essential they are to our everyday lives. This week’s “Minding Your Business” is dedicated to the incredible businesses you will find while flipping through the Cape Cod Christmas gift guide this week (you will notice some of their festive gift items below in parentheses).
In this year’s guide, we have four fabulous local jewelry shops featured, including Chatham Jewelers (exclusive Chatham Light brass desk clock), Designs by S&R in Orleans (sterling silver mermaid silhouette necklace), Forest Beach Designs in Chatham (diamond starfish stud earrings), and Stephen Gallant Jewelers (Dee Berkley slip on gemstone bracelets) in Orleans.
With all of the wonderful art galleries on the Lower Cape, we were proud to feature these amazingly talented artists in this year’s guide: Barn Hill Pottery (handcrafted mugs), Chatham Pottery (classic handmade stoneware), and The Creative Arts Center (sterling silver horseshoe crab earrings), all located in Chatham. Also included are Orleans artists like David Hills Gallery (photographs inspired by offshore fishing) and Addison Art Gallery (fine art from emerging artists and established masters), as well as Odile Fine Art in Harwich Center (boxed notecards of landscape paintings).
Also appearing in the holiday guide are a fantastic group of local clothing and apparel shops like Judy’s Unique Boutique (“artyfactos” like all natural necklaces and earrings, gloves, hats, scarves), Watson’s Menswear (resortwear, sportswear and formal wear), Canterbury Leather (fleece-lined UGG socks) and Kid and Kaboodle (holiday themed pajamas), all in Orleans. Island Pursuit (Cape Cod-themed soft pima pajamas), Fisherman’s Daughter (2026 lunar calendar), and Sundance Clothing (handmade on Cape Cod, T. Jazelle bracelets) in Chatham all appeared in the guide as well with some fantastic holiday gift items. One of our favorite bakeries in Brewster, Eat Cake 4 Breakfast, is also highlighting branded merchandise this year for sale (embroidered sweatshirts).
Some of the most incredible gift and housewares shops on the Cape are sprinkled throughout this year’s guide. Solis (Cape Cod-themed sweaters) and Sativa (seaside watercolor workbooks) are go-to spots in Harwich Port for gifts for anyone in the family as well as fun and festive ornaments. Oceana (Simon Pearce vela bubble tree), Snow’s (holiday toys) and Sunset Leisure (personalized etched cutting boards) in Orleans are top stops on holiday shopping days. Travel over to Chatham to find great gifts at Yellow Umbrella Books (branded golf umbrellas), Bon Matin (Hunt Slonem ceramic bunny plates), Chatham Coastal Creations (Cape Cod shell ornaments), Gustare (gift boxed dipping duos), and Yankee Ingenuity (marble tide clock).
Local author David Zeni also participated in the Christmas gift guide this year with his new book out now, “Sail Four: A Submarine Story.”
Some of our favorite hardware stores, marine and garden centers participated again this year including Baskin’s Hardware (Big Green Egg and Webber grills), Hinckley Home Center (NEBO old red lantern), Chatham Boat Co. (turtlebox speaker), Agway of Cape Cod (FELCO 2 pruning sheers), as well as Mr. Handyman of the Cape and Islands (gift cards for services).
Many of the businesses featured in the guide offer gift cards for services or memberships. These include Kami Aesthetics, Juniper Aesthetics, Stick & Rudder, Chatham Works and the Cape Playhouse.
And finally, one of our amazing advertisers, the Guthrie Group, encouraged folks to follow their lead and consider donating this holiday season to the Chatham Angel Fund, which is such a nice gift to give in honor or in memory of someone.
Happy holidays from The Chronicle Crew and have fun shopping local this year at all of these wonderful shops and businesses!
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
