John Hay Writers’ Reading Event Attracts Community Support
BREWSTER – On Nov. 4, 12 of the John Hay Writers Program participants went before a crowd of 70 to read excerpts of the work they produced during the program.
The event was a culmination of the second annual John Hay Writers Program, which takes place during the summer. Applicants, once approved, spend a week in John Hay’s studio, which sits atop Dry Hill in and is home of the Brewster Conservation Trust (BCT), which now owns the studio and stewards the program.
While the work spans multiple genres, many of the writers are inspired by Mr. Hay’s work, which predominantly focuses on the natural world and conservation.
Applications for the program are usually accepted during the spring.
Jeanie Yaroch, communications and outreach coordinator at the BCT, shared some photos of the event with the Chronicle.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
