Owners Chris Rezendes and Dustin Couto started Summit Holiday Lighting out of college with big ideas in mind and an entrepreneurial spirit that is tough to beat.

“It just started blowing up,” Couto said. “When we decided to do holiday lights, we had some families' homes and had some yard signs out. And we started getting lots of calls, and not just for holiday lights. We get calls for fall festival lighting, Halloween lights, even St. Patrick's Day and Fourth of July lighting. It’s really a little bit of everything, but Christmas lights are still our main bread and butter.”

The Summit Holiday Lighting team has been so well known for decking homes out for Christmas that they’ve been hired by local harvest festivals, commercial displays, storefronts and beyond. They even outfitted a town water tower recently!

“As long as we can find some power, we’ll be more than happy to light up a home, a shop and even a warehouse,” Couto said. “Our lights are all custom fit to your home or business and there is no wasted product or tangled lights in the gutters. Everything is clipped on and clean cut.”

Summit Holiday Lighting’s process is a simple one. A client calls or emails the team for an estimate. Couto or Rezendes will go out to survey the property or home and bring design samples and a catalog of ways to outfit the home. Everything is totally customizable to the home, and the service quote includes design concepts, installation, maintenance, takedown and storage of the entire lighting scheme. 

“We also have a display case that we will sometimes bring to home shows that we attend or to client’s homes to see different options,” Couto said. “You’d be so surprised at all of the different shades of white that you can get your hands on.”

Most typical home lighting jobs take about two workers two to three hours to complete. Larger homes or businesses may involve a larger crew and more hours. It all depends on how intricate the design is, but the team can handle any job, large or small.

Couto fondly remembers a recent job where the homeowner went all-out for the holiday season.

“We had a house that wanted to do red, green, and warm white patterns all around the windowsills and around the peaks and ridges of the home,” he said. “They went full ‘Griswold’ on their house (a reference to the family in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”), and it took us from 7 a.m to 7 p.m that day to complete. We got to see it all lit up and it was amazing. What really makes it all come together for us is when there’s little kids and they get to see the lights and they are all excited about it. Hands down, that’s the best.”
