BREWSTER – Break out the lederhosen: Oktoberfest is back at Ocean Edge for the second year in a row.
Starting this Friday, Sept. 26, Ocean Edge will host a three-weekend event on its front lawn with some additional activities taking place in the carriage house. Complete with a wide variety of local beers, Bavarian-inspired eats and live music, the event is family-friendly and open to all.
"Oktoberfest at Ocean Edge began in 2024 as a way to kick off locals' second summer here on Cape Cod,” said Brendan Carey, the director of marketing at Ocean Edge. “We wanted to share our beautiful resort with our neighbors on the Cape to experience food, music and merriment on our expansive front lawn, which has always served as a space for gathering and connecting, and in the historic Carriage House.”
From 4 to 9 p.m., attendees are welcome to participate in lawn games and activities. Starting at 6 p.m. each night, live music from local bands will play in the carriage house.
The first weekend, from Sept. 26 to 27, the Boston Naturals will take the stage on Friday and Gunpowder & Lead will follow the performance on Saturday. On Friday, Oct. 3, 3rd Left will be playing followed by the Total Strangers on Saturday, Oct. 4. Bounce will play the first day of the final weekend, on Saturday, Oct. 11. To close out the multi-weekend affair, the Boston Naturals will make a final appearance on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Oktoberfest’s official beer partners will be local favorites Devil’s Purse and Hog Island, along with the Boston brewery Sam Adams. A special front lawn menu will include German favorites like bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut and potato cakes. Ocean Edge will also serve its regular front lawn menu with Cape Cod classics like lobster rolls and shareable snacks like chicken wings and spinach artichoke dip. The wood fire pizza oven will also be available for seven different kinds of pizza.
Iconic Bavarian deserts like German apple strudel and black forest cake will also be available. A pretzel bar will be set up in Addie’s room in the carriage house with an array of dips and toppings for attendees to “make their own” plate.
Each day, participants will be able to compete in a stein holding contest known as “Masskrugstemmen.”
“Oktoberfest is part of the resort's larger narrative as a year-round destination for Cape Cod and Boston locals, either for a staycation or for our hallmark events, such as this,” said Carey. “Beyond Oktoberfest, we look forward to locals joining us for dining and festive celebrations throughout the holidays, and well into the spring. To honor our Cape Cod family, we even offer special rates for the recently-launched wellness retreats, which primarily take place in our sweater season."
