BREWSTER – After five years of operating its hybrid curriculum from two different Cape churches, the Cape Cod Christian Academy can finally say it has a home of its own.
On Aug. 13, the Academy announced that its nondenominational school purchased the building at 94 Freemans Way.
After its inception in 2020, the school operated out of the Bible Alliance Church on Route 6A in Brewster before moving to East Harwich, where it used St. Peter’s Lutheran Church facilities.
According to the press release, the school recently purchased the building to accommodate its growing kindergarten through ninth grade enrollment and to provide students with an even more dynamic learning environment. The new address includes a 9,000-square-foot building and 3.5 acres of land.
CCCA is a University-Model school, where students attend classes through a hybrid model, spending two to three days in a physical classroom setting and the other days in their satellite classroom. While students are being instructed by teachers during central classroom time, they may have a more independent practice and homework during their satellite days.
“In partnership with one another, parents and the teachers work together toward a mutual goal, to emphasize discipleship, worldview instruction, and character formation,” the school’s website reads.
Dr. Tracy Waters founded the school during the COVID-19 pandemic when parent support was crucial for student’s success.
Waters said the school has flourished into a vibrant and growing educational community. The previous move to East Harwich was also due to a growing student population.
“Our move to 94 Freemans Way marks a significant milestone for our school community,” said Waters. “This new space allows us to continue providing an exceptional, faith-informed education while fostering close partnerships between parents and teachers in preparing students for both academic success and strong character.”
The school focuses on total development, focusing on the intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, moral and physical aspects of education. In addition to the core subjects, the school offers art, music and Spanish for all grades, as well as logic and Latin for students in grade five and above. The ratio between teachers and students is one to nine, promoting small, intimate learning environments.
In a social media post on Aug. 23, CCCA said local organizations have expressed excitement about partnering with the school and using the building when school is not in session. The post went on to call these requests a powerful reminder that the move is not just a blessing for the students, but for the greater Cape Cod community as well.
