BREWSTER – Town officials announced a temporary closure of Paines Creek Wednesday morning due to high levels of fecal bacteria.
The notice advises residents and visitors to refrain from swimming in the area until further notice. The department of natural resources has already re-tested the location and will continue to test the beach for bacteria counts. Updates on the closure status will be provided as available.
Barnstable County water samplers conduct beach samplings in the summer months to analyze the fecal bacteria levels.
