BREWSTER – The Brewster Conservation Trust hosted its 14th annual Conservation Day last Saturday, bringing together over 40 ecologically-driven organizations, a plethora of interactive, educational activities and about 1,200 nature lovers.
“I want to thank the natural resources department, the Brewster Conservation Trust and Ed Barber and his team at the Sea Camps for a very, very successful Brewster Conservation Day,” Assistant Town Manager Donna Kalinick said at the select board meeting Monday night.
This was the first year the event was hosted at the Sea Camps bay property. Kalinick praised the venue change and thanked the “millions of volunteers” it took to pull off the event without a hitch.
In addition to the volunteers from BCT and the natural resources department, AmeriCorps Cape Cod volunteers were on hand to help.
“It was a really fun event and the weather cooperated a lot better this year than it did last year,” said Mary Chaffee, chair of the select board.
Kalinick commented that she had never seen as many children in one place, especially in the town of Brewster.
