March 19, 2025
April 1949 – January 2025
Cecelia Peck Hirschberg “Cece” passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025 at the age of 75. Cece was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Anita Peck Romig. Raised in Ohio, she moved to the Cape in 1971 and was a longtime resident of East Orleans and Brewster.
Cece enjoyed volunteering in the Nauset School system. She organized the first Orleans Elementary School Holiday Craft Fair, served as a Parent Volunteer Coordinator at the Orleans Middle School, and later helped initiate the Nauset Regional High School Renovation Committee.
In addition to her role as Supervisor for the Lower Cape Outreach Council’s Orleans Food Pantry, Cece was also a Care Manager at Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands in the Meals on Wheels program. All in all, she served the community for 37 years.
Cece delighted in hosting Christmas cookie painting parties at her church and at home, inviting members, neighborhood children and anyone else who wished to join.
She was an avid member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO).
Cece felt blessed to have led such a good life, loved her family and friends and felt fortunate to have seen her grandchildren grow. Above all, Cece always put others before herself.
Cece is predeceased by her former husband Joseph Bruce Hirschberg and survived by her two sisters, Margaret Williams and Anita Schirm, daughter Heidi Fagan and her husband J.K., son Peter Hirschberg, grandchildren Griffin, Grace and Connor Fagan, and fourteen nieces and nephews.
No formal services will be held, in accordance with her wishes. A private family gathering to honor her memory will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Outreach or to the Orleans United Methodist Church. For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
