Eme Lou Evers Eme Lou Evers

Eme Lou Evers (nee Schroeder) passed away in her home with her children beside her on January 24, 2025. She was 91 years old. Born on April 4, 1933, in Belleville, Illinois, Eme Lou was one of four siblings. After graduating from Belleville High School, she pursued nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital and became a registered nurse. She married Robert in 1954 and they built a beautiful life together, first in the St. Louis area and then in Summit, New Jersey and Orleans, Massachusetts.
Eme Lou was known for her generous spirit and compassion for others. She had a natural talent for artistic expression through painting, gardening and decorating. Eme Lou loved spending time in and around the ocean, always on the lookout for the most dazzling sunset or a shining, full moon. Her love of nature crept into her home with found objects like shells, driftwood, sea glass and stones.
Eme Lou experienced her greatest joy when surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Bradley, Barbara (Jim), and Thomas; three grandchildren, Samuel, August, and Cooper; and her brother, Karl. She also leaves behind chosen family members Lauren, Cameron and Drew Kellock, and the Barnard clan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her brother, Norman, and her sister, Marcia Lee. She was Aunt Lou or Aunt Eme to several nieces and nephews. And many caring neighbors will miss her daily stroll with her beloved dog, Emma.
In lieu of a memorial service, a celebration of Eme Lou’s life will be held at a later time. Donations can be made to Planned Parenthood in her honor.
Treasured for her strength and determination, and compassion for all, Eme Lou will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
