HARWICH – Monomoy junior Kiley Mawn’s hard work is paying off.
The Sharks’ leading returning scorer put together the best performance of her high school career on Jan. 14, when she hit a career-high 27 points to lead Monomoy to a 44-36 win over Cape Cod Academy in Harwich.
Mawn made three 3-pointers, added five field goals from in the paint, and finished eight of 10 from the foul line.
“Everybody has good nights and bad nights shooting, but she’s worked really hard over Christmas vacation and since we’ve been back,” Monomoy coach Craig Andrews said.
As pleased as Andrews was to see Mawn’s shots fall from behind the arc, the coach was even more thrilled to see the junior from Brewster assert herself underneath the basket in the post.
“She can play inside with finesse and can get a lot of points inside,” Andrews said. “She also gets to the foul line, which helps a lot.”
