Local Towns To Mark Veterans Day Monday

Local communities will commemorate Veterans Day next Monday, the 11th day of the 11th month, as is traditional.
In Chatham, the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the World War I memorial at the community center. The National Anthem will be sung by Laura Barabe, and Sarah Marchio will play bagpipes. The featured speaker will be Jo Ann Sprague, a veteran and member of the town’s finance committee. Scouts, town officials, police, fire and Coast Guard personnel will participate in the ceremony. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the community center.
Harwich’s ceremony will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Local Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by performances by the Harwich Band and the Monomoy High School Women’s Acapella Group. After an invocation, Selectman Donald Howell will provide a greeting, followed by a guest speaker, a benediction and “Taps.” Officials had no provided the name of the guest speaker by publication.
Brewster will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m. at the council on aging featuring local veterans and guest speakers.
In Orleans, Veterans Day services will be held at Veterans Memorial Park at Academy Place at 11 a.m. The Nauset Regional Band and Chorus, American Legion Post 308, and Orleans Police and Fire Honor Guards will be in attendance.
