HARWICH – Although he wasn’t at full strength, Monomoy boys soccer senior captain Ryan Laramee still managed to shine.
Laramee buried the Sharks’ only goal in Thursday’s 3-1 loss to visiting Nantucket, tying the game 1-1 in the third minute of the second half.
“He’s our leading goal scorer,” Monomoy coach Keith Clark said. “He’s been out sick the past two days, so he wasn’t 100 percent and we had to keep an eye on that, but it was good to have him in the lineup.”
The Harwich resident and reigning Most Valuable Player in the Cape and Islands Mariner Division almost found the back of the net in the first half. Laramee fielded a pass in Nantucket’s 18-yard box and was taken out by a tackle by Whalers goalkeeper Alex Ivilov before the ball rolled just wide of the goal.
