She was a dedicated and devoted wife of a career US Air Force officer, she also worked at various times as a public relations agent in Montana, as a newspaper layout artist and a tax collector in Missouri, purchasing agent for a souvenir shop in Africa, a school teacher in Ohio, and the editor of a bulletin for advertising construction contract opportunities in Colorado. Accompanying her husband on a three year tour in Ethiopia, for her dedicated service to the military and local communities she was awarded admittance to the legendary court of the Queen of Sheba with the title of ‘Princess of the Nile’ by the Commander of the US Army Kagnew Station, Asmara, Ethiopia. She was well known by a number of Congressional wives for providing shopping tours of the city of Asmara. The Emperor of Ethiopia personally presented her with a small gold coin, thanking her for the service she had provided his nation during her time there.
