HARWICH – Hinckley Home Center and the Harwich Chamber of Commerce are continuing an event started last fall honoring public safety officials for the service they provide to local communities.

Chamber Executive Director Cyndi Williams said she will be working with Hinckley’s staff to put on Fire and Rescue Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the front parking lot at Hinckley Home Center at the intersection of Routes 137 and 39.

Hinckley and the chamber worked together to put on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day last September. That event was dampened by heavy rain and winds, but participation was steady, Williams said.

“It’s a giving back event,” said Williams this week, “thanking fire and rescue personnel for all the work they do and for keeping us safe.”

Williams said she and Hinckley manager Cathy Carhart planned the event and reached out to several fire departments. Harwich and Chatham have responded positively and personnel and apparatus from those departments will be at the event. They are still waiting to hear from the Brewster Fire Department, she said.

The event will include touch-a-truck opportunities for the kids with fire apparatus, country and western band North Country playing outside in the parking lot, representatives of the Brewster office of the Animal Rescue League of Boston, and the Red River Barbeque food truck. Members of the fire departments will be on hand to answer questions.

Hinckley Home Center will be open regular hours on Saturday and additional parking will be provided in the lumberyard.
