Prepare the turkey, mash those potatoes and make sure to stuff enough stuffing…but don’t forget to enjoy some pigskin Thanksgiving morning.

All three of the Lower Cape’s high school football teams will be in action Thursday morning when they close out their respective seasons with another edition of Thanksgiving football rivalries.

Harwich will play host to two Thanksgiving games, as Cape Cod Tech (2-8) will host Upper Cape Tech (3-7) and Monomoy (6-4) will welcome St. John Paul II (3-6) to town. Both games are set for 10 a.m. kickoffs.

A little farther west, Nauset (6-4) will visit Dennis-Yarmouth (3-7) for a 10 a.m. kickoff in South Yarmouth.

Nauset will look to close out its season with a two-game win streak after cruising to a 20-0 victory over Medfield on Nov. 10 in North Eastham.

It won’t be easy, however, against a Dennis-Yarmouth squad that won last year’s matchup 14-0 and holds a 4-0 record over Nauset dating back to 2018, when the Warriors earned a 26-20 win on Turkey Day.

The Harwich games are rematches of regular season meetings between rivals. Monomoy will look to sweep JP II after earning a 14-6 victory in the first matchup Oct. 1 in Sandwich.

There will likely be some extra motivation for the Sharks following last year’s 56-26 season-ending loss to JP II, which took place in Sandwich the night before Thanksgiving.

Although Cape Tech pulled away for a 30-12 victory over Upper Cape Tech last Thanksgiving, the Crusaders lost 37-12 when they hosted the Rams in Harwich for a regular-season matchup Oct. 15.

CCT will aim to snap a three-game losing streak Thursday, including a 39-6 loss to Monomoy on Nov. 10.

Recaps of the Thanksgiving games will appear in the Dec. 1 edition of The Chronicle.
