Lisa Jason and Lucia Giannetta will perform “Judy and Liza, The Songbook, a Holiday Celebration” at The 204 on Dec. 3.

Looking for an opportunity to ring in the holiday season with an evening of unforgettable songs celebrating two of the brightest stars of classic Hollywood and Broadway?
On Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. the Harwich Chamber of Commerce and Raineman Productions will present “Judy and Liza, The Songbook, a Holiday Celebration” featuring Chatham singer Lisa Jason and Broadway star Lucia Giannetta celebrating the musical catalog of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli, along with holiday favorites to warm the chilly evening with yuletide cheer. The concert will take place at The 204, located at 204 Sisson Rd. in Harwich, the former Harwich Cultural Center, with a pre-concert VIP meet and greet reception at 6 p.m.
Cyndi Williams, executive director of the chamber, said that she and Tony Raine of Raineman Productions work together on various shows and programs. Williams wanted to create something special with Lisa Jason, and Jason’s one-woman show celebrating the music of Judy Garland — which Jason co-wrote, produced and has performed in venues from New England to New York and beyond for the past 15 years — was the key to the Judy and Liza Songbook idea.
“This concert is a wonderful companion to our Christmas in Harwich weekend, and I am super excited about it,” Williams said. “The 204 is a wonderful, intimate venue, really the perfect venue. I think anyone will love to hear this fun, iconic music, and everyone at the Harwich Chamber of Commerce is excited to share it for the holiday season.”
Jason, a Chatham native, is a seasoned singer, songwriter, dancer and performer whose original work has earned rave reviews and graced many notable New York City stages. Giannetta is an accomplished Broadway performer whose credits range from Carnegie Hall to the Lincoln Center, Radio City and the Kennedy Center.
“I was doing ‘Les Mis’ on Broadway, it had recently closed, and I was preparing to go into ‘A Bronx Tale’ when a castmate called and said he had a friend doing a show at 54 Below who I just had to see,” Giannetta recalled. “He thought we would work well together. Lisa and I met, and we were immediately friends.”
Jason explained that she was living in New York City and performing at Broadway’s award-winning supper club 54 Below when she met Giannetta. The two began to sing together, and the connection was instant.
“Magic was happening! We really love singing together,” Jason said. “I’d been singing Judy Garland all my life and performing my one-woman show onstage for years. Adding Liza to the show was such a great idea, I didn’t even have to think about it. Lucia is an incredible person, such an amazing voice, such an incredible actress, and just a beautiful heart. Our connection is so magical that I reached out and asked her, and I was thrilled when she said yes.”
Over the summer, Lucia traveled to the Cape from New York and joined Jason on the Melody Tent stage to give Judy and Liza a whirl as the opening act for disco icons KC and the Sunshine Band. How would a crowd who came out for the glitz of 1970s tunes like “Shake Your Booty” respond to the sounds of Hollywood and Broadway icons Garland and Minnelli as performed by Jason and Giannetta?
“They were great to us,” Jason said. “People came up to us afterwards and said ‘We love you!’”
Giannetta recalls how the experience transformed from the unfamiliar to the unforgettable.
“I had never performed there before, so I was thinking, ‘The stage spins around? Am I going to get dizzy?’” Giannetta said. “It could not have been better! I was seeing people with platform shoes and body glitter just loving what we were doing and singing along with us. They were clapping, singing along to ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Trolly Song,’ and it was wonderful. They were so engrossed, so present, so receptive. Judy and Liza are timeless, iconic artists, and their music brought so many memories back to everyone. I was really so grateful and so excited that Lisa asked me to do it.”
Jason is excited to perform with pianist Fred Boyle, Rich Hill on bass and Chris Santos on drums at The 204, a new venue to her and to Giannetta.
“We have such an amazing band behind us,” Jason said. “I’m grateful to Tony Raine, to Cyndi Williams and the Harwich Chamber for the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane with good music, warmth, and the joy of people getting together safely,” Jason said. “For Lucia and I to bring ourselves to this music, to celebrate Judy and Liza, to share the essence of their connection as performers as well as mother and daughter comes so naturally to us. I look forward to sharing a beautiful evening of songs, and love and connection.”
