Nauset, Monomoy Cross-Country Runners Qualify For State Championships

A pair of Nauset runners and a Monomoy standout have qualified for their respective cross-country state tournament meets after strong performances at the state qualifiers.

Nauset junior William Crowell and sophomore Madeline Mahoney will represent the Warriors on Saturday in the Division 2 state championship in Fort Devens.

Mahoney earned her spot with a third-place finish after posting a time of 19 minutes, 4.41 seconds to set a new personal record, while Crowell also set a new PR with a 17:12.26, which was good for 31st place in the boys race.

Monomoy junior Gareth Vos will represent the Sharks on Saturday at Fort Devens in the Division 3 state championship after qualifying with a time of 18:21.53 to finish 16th.

The Nauset girls team also received some hardware at the qualifiers, as the team was honored with the MIAA’s Division 2 sportsmanship award.
