Darrel Peter Coddington

Darrel Peter Coddington passed away peacefully  October 26, 2022, at his home in Chatham. Darrel was born February 18, 1943, in Newburgh, New York, to the late Anita Torcevia (formerly Coddington) and Kenneth F. Coddington.  Darrel served in the U.S. Coast Guard.  Following his service, Darrel settled in Chatham as a fisherman, with his wife, Sandra L. Coddington, joining him in 1971.  Darrel was the owner/operator of Port Products, initially starting as a fish broker and then growing his business into a nation-wide distribution company.  Although he retired in 2017, Darrel returned to fishing Chatham waters until this past June 2022. 
A well-liked and respected member of the community, Darrel also achieved success as a competitive runner and ran with his friends known as “Chatham Connection” for many years. Indeed, till his last months, Darrel could often be seen engaging in his passion for exercise on the streets of Chatham. 
Darrel is survived by his children, Chad Darrel Coddington, daughter-in-law Barbara, and grandsons Samuel and Conrad of Chatham and Melinda (Mindi) Richards, son-in-law Brian Rought of Silver Spring, Md. and his grandson Elijah Anderson of Hemet, Calif.  Also left behind are friend Jeanne Desmarais of Somerset and companion Linda Karaberis of Attleboro, whose love and caring gave Darrel and his family comfort and love until his passing.  He will be greatly missed.
In accordance with his wishes, friends and family will celebrate his life at a future date.
