Lower Cape PMC Ride This Weekend
The 15th annual Lower Cape PMC Kids Ride happens on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 pm. beginning at Stony Brook Elementary School on Underpass Road in Brewster. The ride, for kids 3 to 12, supports the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Routes range from short enclosed loops for tricycles and training wheels to longer routes up to eight miles along the rail trail. A pizza party will be held to celebrate after the ride. Monomoy High National Honor Society Inductees
On Sept. 7, 24 new members were inducted into the Monomoy Regional High School chapter of the National Honor Society. Inductees were Wyatt Archibald, Ileana Babes-Deel, Kylie Bennett, Arianna Carchedi, Paul Carlson, Abigail Considine, Orla Delaney, Karah Deveau, Lillian Gould, Lily Grady, Emily Gray, Tian Jamieson, Chloe Jones, Stephen Kelly, Annalise Langelier, Natalie Larivee, Noah Metters, Talia Perez, Mitchell Silva, Ashley Smith, Sally Watson, Maximus Weinberg, Isaiah Woodland and Yu Ying Zou.
Brewster Schools Staff Spotlight
Steve Guditus, principal at Eddy Elementary School
Steve Guditus is thrilled to be the new principal of Eddy Elementary School. He is an Orleans resident and new to living and working on Cape Cod full-time. Previously, he served as the director of educational technology for the Tri-Town School Union on the north shore of Boston in Middleton, Topsfield, and Boxford. In this role, he worked on professional development with staff and principals, developed and rolled out district-wide initiatives and programs, and worked heavily with the safety teams across all three towns. Previous to that position, he was the principal of Manchester-Essex Regional Middle School in Manchester-by-the-Sea, assistant principal of Stony Brook Middle School in Westford, and a classroom teacher in Medfield. He enjoys kayaking, running, cooking, walking the dog, spending time at the beach with his family, and exploring Cape Cod. Mr. Guditus is so excited to be at Eddy Elementary School and part of the Brewster and Nauset communities.
Samantha Niezgoda, physical education teacher at Stony Brook
Samantha Niezgoda, Stony Brook's new physical education teacher, is a Brewster resident and attended the Eddy Elementary School as a student when both Stony Brook and Eddy were K-5 schools. As a Brewster resident, she is already known by many students and their families. For the past few years, she worked at the Truro Central School. In terms of hobbies and interests, she said, “I love spending time at the beach and reading books. A few of my favorite authors are Colleen Hoover, Elin Hilderbrand, and Taylor Reid Jenkins. I usually go to the Brewster Ladies' Library at least once a week to find new books.”
