BREWSTER – A handful of years have passed since Ben Szuhaj made his mark competing for the Dartmouth College cross country and track and field teams, but the Pennsylvania native now living in Washington, D.C. still felt at home in his return to New England.

The 2019 Dartmouth graduate captured Saturday’s Brew Run title after completing the 5.2-mile road race in 26 minutes, 32 seconds.

“I just started back training after a race in Europe this summer, so I wanted to do a race, and for my first one back it was a really good course,” said Szhuaj, who said he trained for the race while spending time on the Cape this summer with his girlfriend and her family.

The former Ivy League runner still runs competitively as a part of a semi-pro running organization in D.C., where he joined Georgetown’s running club after college.

He claimed the title after outlasting Finn Riley, a former Nauset running standout who currently runs at Texas Christian University, by 57 seconds.
