God has called Mary Anne Lyons Kessler of Chatham to heaven on May 16, 2022 at the age of 77. She is survived by her loving husband Charles (Chuck) Edward Kessler of Chatham, sons Damien, Chris, Andrew, Jeremy and wife Dorie of Connecticut. She has two surviving sisters Eileen McSweeny and Noreen Flugger of Chatham. She also has six grandchildren (Corrine, Avery, Ryan, Ashley, Rose and Violet) who fondly call her “Nanny” as well as seven nieces and nephews who affectionately refer to her as “Aunt Mamie.” Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jeremiah and Ellen Lyons, sister Hannah Filardi and her nephew Joseph Filardi.
Mary did not spend much time apart from Chuck and they were seen holding hands by those who knew them on their often walks together. She was the face of Chuck’s accounting practice as Vice President, Secretary, and the last line of defense before the final product left the office. She was quick to make a friend and many clients became just that due to her wonderful demeanor and a smile to be envious of. She promptly earned the name “Middle Mary” on the golf courses after Chuck’s persistent requests to join him for many years. Mary was a skillful adversary in Words With Friends to many opponents, some of which she didn’t even know. As a devoted wife and mother, Mary was truly selfless all the way to the end, which has become her new beginning.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. She will be missed greatly and held forever in our hearts until we meet again.
