Get into the spirit of the season at Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18 and 19 at 4 p.m. at the Holly Jolly Holiday Social, a chance to gather with friends in the name of sugarplums and mistletoe while favorite Cape Rep performers give voice to classic holiday songs. This fun musical event is part of a full month of Brewster for the Holidays festivities.
Cape Rep Marketing Director Jared Hagen said the free holiday event offers guests an opportunity to look over the progress that has been made on Cape Rep's historic Crosby Barn renovation project. Hagen will be among the talented group from Cape Rep's stage, singing seasonal music in the courtyard along with Trish LaRose, Kate Pazakis, Anthony Teixeira, Chelsey Jo Ristaino, Meghan Magrath and many more. Bundle up and enjoy a hot chocolate or an apple cider, decorate an ornament to take home, or pick up a gift certificate or unique gift for your someone special this holiday season.
Cape Rep Theatre recently announced the 365 Campaign, a public campaign to raise the funds to complete the final phase of the renovation of the historic Crosby Barn. The full historical restoration of the exterior of the Barn is now complete. The interior must now be finished, creating a brand new theater, a home for education and a place for community. Once the barn is finished, one of Brewster’s historic structures will have been saved and restored for use within a year-round performing arts campus.
With Cape Rep's productions and educational programs thriving, the expanded space afforded by the renovated Crosby Barn will open up new possibilities. The increased flexible space will allow the creation of new work in a wide variety of styles, while providing amenities like a bar and a catering kitchen. It will create a much needed rehearsal hall that can be used when shows are running at the Indoor Theater, and it will allow expansion of educational offerings such as Young Company (YoCo) and Veterans Company (VetCo), moving Cape Rep closer to its goal of creating a conservatory for professional theater training. The renovated Crosby Barn will be a space to gather for concerts, lectures, movies, catered parties and fundraising events.
The 365 Campaign's rallying cry is, “Give us a year and we’ll give you a hundred more!” Cape Rep supporters are asked to consider committing to donating just a dollar a day for a year to help bring the historic building back to life for today and decades to come. Contributions will help Cape Rep meet a $190,000 matching grant from the Mass Cultural Facilities Fund and reach the ultimate goal of $1,400,000 to complete the project.
Due to COVID restrictions, attendance at this event will be limited; RSVP by calling the box office at 508-896-1888. Cape Rep Theatre is also offering small tours of the barn by appointment. Call to arrange a visit at 508-896-1888.
