Judith Blainey Llewellyn

Judith Blainey Llewellyn, 75, passed away at her home on September 1, 2021.
She was born to the late Emma “Kay” and James Blainey, December 8, 1945, in New York City.  She attended Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Chatham High School.  She received a BA in English from Wellesley College.
Upon graduating from Wellesley, she worked at Fidelity Investments where she gained experience in the area of market research and financial trends, inspiring a lifelong interest in the stock market. She married Parker Llewellyn in 1969. They moved to Chicago where she spent happy years raising their daughter, making lifelong friends, volunteering on the Women’s Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, acting as president of the Needlework and Textile Guild, and being an active member at the Women’s Athletic Club. Moving back to the East Coast in 1981, they spent time in Dover, Boston, and at their summer home in Chatham, with Judy creating warm, welcoming homes with each move. When they divorced she moved to Chatham full time. She spent a number of years working in the hospitality industry, and when she retired, she moved from Chatham to Brewster, where she remained an active member of her community. On a local, national, and global level, she worked to understand and improve the world she lived in. She made the most of her retirement spending time with friends and family.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Courtney Blankenship, Courtney’s husband, Jeff, their daughter, Emma, and her beloved grand-dog, Tessie.  She is also survived by her half-sister, Luce Groening.
Donations may be made to Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.
There will be a celebration of her life at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans on September 19 at 11 a.m. For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
