Debra Lynn Eldredge

CHATHAM - Debra Lynn Eldredge, 65, passed away on Friday morning April 9, 2021. She was born in Weymouth, Ma. at South Shore Hospital on June 11, 1955 to Roy and Virginia “Gigi” Eldredge.  Debbie was the couple’s fourth child, and was 12 years younger than their youngest child at the time.  Love surrounded Debbie from her birth with three older siblings and two loving parents.
Though Debbie was born off-Cape, she considered Chatham her hometown. She lived in Chatham most of her life.  She loved Chatham and everyone in Chatham, and the Chatham residents loved her right back. She loved to tell everyone that she and Chatham had the same birthday!  And on Chatham’s 300th celebration, she participated in the Founder’s Day parade right down Main Street as if the parade was just for her!  And in a way it was, or could have been.  Debbie was a fine human being who helped so many in her hometown, more than her family or close friends know.  She was not one to brag about her good deeds.  She just did.  She did the little things that made a difference; she just knew how to make someone feel loved and appreciated.  She will be a huge loss for all of us.
Debbie was a server at Larry’s PX and before that at the Chatham Cookie Manor and the Chatham Wayside Inn making lifelong friends all along the way.  She was thoughtful, brave and just had a way of making you smile.  She was kind to the elderly and patient with the little ones who came into Larry’s and really everyone in her world.  A world that was filled with friends.  Debbie never met a stranger she didn’t befriend.  Oh, what we would give to hear her say “Be right back” right now.
Debbie is survived by her partner Sue Eldredge; her sisters Betty Bennett and her husband Robert, Shirley Maguire and her husband Paul; sister-in-law Nancy Eldredge; her nieces Patricia “Patti” Maguire, Cheri O’Connell, Lisa Winter, Susan Eldredge and Linda Eldredge; and nephews Scott Bennett, Robert “Bobby” Bennett, Jr., Greg Bennett; many great-nieces and great-nephews and her two close friends, Colleen Beaudoin and Judy Rogers. She was predeceased by her mother and father, brother James Eldredge, and her nephew Glen Eldredge.
The family is planning a celebration of her life on June 11 in Chatham. In the meantime, please feel free to make a donation to the Pals For Life Foundation in her name.  She and many in her family were dedicated volunteers for this foundation. or PFL Foundation, 213 AP Newcomb Rd, Brewster Ma. 02631.

“I hope that I see the world as you did ‘cause I know
A life with love is a life that’s been lived
So I’ll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you’d be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we’ll say Hallelujah
You’re home.”
