Heather Mary Sammartano

Heather Mary Sammartano, 66
Loxahatchee, Fla. - Heather Sammartano died at home on April 1, 2020 after a brave battle with multiple myeloma cancer.  She joined her husband Fred who passed away in 2008.
Heather was pre-deceased by her parents Harold and Florence Sullivan of Chatham.  She was born in Toronto, Canada on August 31, 1953 and immigrated with her family to Chatham in 1959 and graduated from Chatham High School in 1971.  After graduation, she moved to Florida where she met her husband Fred and lived in Loxahatchee until her death.
Most recently, Heather worked at Palm Beach Sports Medicine in Medical Billing and retired in 2018.
Heather loved football especially the Miami Dolphins.  She was a proud member of the “Garage Gang” who got together regularly on game days starting when Dan Marino was their quarterback and the Dolphins were in their glory days.  Both she and Fred lived far away from family.  Their friends filled that gap and life was one big tailgate party.
Her passion was cooking and found it relaxing after a hard day at work as well as a nature walk and a good novel.
Heather is survived by her son Matthew Sammartano of Loxahatchee, Fla.; sisters Rita Shields of Chatham,  Bonnie Jewett of South Portland, Maine; Mike Sulivan of Worcester along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her sister Maureen McAllister of Park City, Utah.
