Marilyn Pritchard Lamb
Marilyn Pritchard Lamb, 92, of Pelham Manor, N.Y. and Harwich, passed away peacefully at Harbor Point on Cape Cod, on November 25, 2019.
She was born to Olive Saling and Edward Ross Pritchard in Prospect Park, N.J. After her mother’s death in 1933, she and her sister Olive were raised in the Bronx, where she graduated from Mt. St. Ursula High School. She completed her education with secretarial school.
She married the late Richard G. Lamb in 1948, and they lived and raised a family in the New York City area for 35 years, before retiring to Harwich on Cape Cod.
Marilyn contributed her professional skills to the registrar’s office at Iona College in New Rochelle for fifteen years. In retirement, she found herself employed by the Whitney family of Cady Hill House, Saratoga N.Y., until Richard’s death.
Marilyn is survived by four of her five children: Elizabeth A. Lamb of Harwich; Monica C. Lamb of Wauwatosa, Wis.; Richard E. Lamb of Pelham Manor, N.Y.; Kenneth V. Lamb of Katy, Texas. Marilyn was predeceased by her son Christopher B. Lamb in 2007, and her husband Richard in 1995. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Marilyn was known for her beautiful smile, and cheerful optimism. She was a faithful friend, correspondent, family historian and narrator. She loved music and sang in choirs, choruses and church throughout her life. She believed in St. Cecilia’s wisdom that to sing is to praise God twice. She was a faithful congregant at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham Manor, and Holy Redeemer in Chatham. Marilyn was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories. Although her own memories were erased by Alzheimer’s disease, her cheerfulness and humor never failed her.
A Memorial Mass will be held on January 24, 2020 at 10 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham.
The family requests that those so inclined make a donation in Marilyn’s name to Broadreach Hospice, 390 Orleans Rd., N. Chatham, MA 02650.
