Francis J. “Bosco” Kelly Jr.

Francis J. “Bosco” Kelly Jr. of Chatham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019.  He was 76 years old.
Francis was born to Francis J. Kelly Sr. and Bernadette Kelly on November 9, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann “Candy” Kelly; his five children, Charlene Kelly, Francis Kelly, Noreen Kelly, Prudence Kelly and Michael Kelly; 12 grandchildren, Zachary, Michael, Julia, Isabel, Jordan, Francis, Nolan, Bennett, Andre, Mila, Dominic and Elena; and eight siblings, Mary Ellen, Patricia, Elizabeth, Monica, Peter, Grace, Bernadette, and Paul,
Francis graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy in 1962, and then served in the United States Navy from 1962 through 1964 in Cuba and Sicily.  For over thirty years, he worked alongside his father and brothers to operate the family’s marine maintenance business, Union Maintenance, formally Kelmar Contracting, and was also a proud member of the International Longshoremen’s Association #1840.  For most of his professional life, he was a member of the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City, and also served that organization on its Board of Governors.
Visitation was held at Doane Beal & Ames, 260 Main Street in West Harwich, MA on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019 from 1-4 pm, and on Monday, Dec 2, 2019 from 4-7 pm.  A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, Dec 3, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church at 57 Highland Avenue in Chatham, MA.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod to support hospice services for cancer patients.  For online condolences please visit www.doanebealamesharwich.com
