ORLEANS – It was a tough Senior Night for the Cape Cod Furies girls varsity ice hockey team, which fell to BMW/ORR on Feb. 13.

Molly McKenna did her best in net to keep the score low, but the Canalwomen capitalized on two power plays en route to a 3-0 shutout, their first goal coming at 8:07 in the first period when the Furies were down a player due to a penalty.

The Cape Tech/Monomoy/Nauset home team stepped up its intensity in the second and kept the visiting Bourne/Mashpee/Wareham/Old Rochester team off the scoreboard, but couldn't convert any chances near the opposing net into goals.

The third period saw BMW/ORR net two goals, the first during another power play that took the Furies' Shaylon Steadman briefly out of the game, and the second just three minutes later to cap off the game.

Furies head coach Addie Weeks was disappointed for her seniors, McKenna, Delaney Agnes, and Breanna Kender.

“It's just a bummer,” she said. “I think we could have really taken it to them. There was just a lack of effort there. I thought Molly played well, and Delaney, I thought it was one of her better games. Good hustle, and Connor Boucher held onto the puck well.”

The teams met again on Monday, with BMW/ORR earning a 7-0 victory. The Furies finish up their 2018-2019 season this afternoon with an away game against Bishop Stang that starts at 2:30 p.m.
