HARWICH – It was a great day for Mickey Glennen, Mike Hodges, and Betsy Casey, and an even better day for the Monomoy All Sports Booster Club as their second annual golf tournament not only meant awesome awards for the aforementioned trio, but a strong show of support that resulted in a successful fundraiser as well.

Glennen earned the Closest to the Pin title for the men, coming within 10 feet of the flag on the seventh hole in the tourney, played at Cranberry Valley Golf Course, while Hodges had the longest drive for the men on the 16th hole. Meanwhile, Casey took home both titles for the women, with her ball landing 35 feet from the pin.

Though overcast, the day was perfect for a fun round of golf made even better because it was for a great cause – raising funds for the Monomoy All Sports Booster Club. Early estimates from event organizers have the total somewhere around $12,000, which will go a long way toward helping teams at Monomoy Regional High School purchase equipment, uniforms and defray travel costs to away games.

Seventeen foursomes took part in the 2018 event, which also included a silent auction featuring some terrific goodies donated by local merchants. With the second golf tournament in the books, the club is now turning the spotlight on its next fundraiser, personalized bricks in the new concession stand patio.

For $100 Monomoy fans can purchase a brick with 33 characters, while $250 gets you an 8x12 block of granite and 44 characters for your positive message, and $1,000 means a 16x16 granite square, also with 44 characters.
