Monomoy Cross-Country Runs To Victory Against Rising Tide

HARWICH – Last Friday was a great day to be a Shark on the Monomoy boys and girls cross-country teams. Not only did each win their respective races against Rising Tide and Riverview, but an impressive 11 home team runners – six boys and five girls – earned personal bests in the meet.

The boys got started first along the roughly three-mile course at Island Pond Cemetery, with Steven Young the first across the finish line at 17:24 and Ryder Robbins close on his heels, coming in with the first of the personal bests at 17:31. Aidan Melton had the next personal best time, crossing the finish line at 19:04, with teammate Doug Ulrich earning his own PB with his time of 20:37.

Quinn Schuyler posted a time of 21:30, followed by Sean Owen with his personal best time of 22:07. Next was Jean Claude Marjollet with his personal best time of 22:25, followed by Dan Street who finished at 24:02, marking his return after being sidelined with an illness.

James Kiernan had the last personal best for the boys, coming in at 24:31, with Sam Yuskaitis giving his all at the end and sprinting to a 28:04 finish, with the boys triumphing over Rising Tide 20-46, and Riverview 20-50.

Caroline Davock was the first to cross the finish line for the girls, posting a personal best time of 22:05, with teammate Margo Dery coming in at 22:24. Francesca Marchesi earned the second personal best time for the girls with her finish of 22:41, with Emily Blake earning the next PB with her finish of 24:00 even. Julia Rioux also had a personal best at 24:49.

Abby Tyldesley came in at 27:53, and rounding out the personal bests was Maddie Pitts with her time of 29:08, as the girls defeated Rising Tide 21-36 and Riverview 21-50.

Next up for the Sharks is a home meet Oct. 16 against Cape Cod Academy with a start time of 4 p.m.
