Donald O. Chapman
HARWICHPORT- Donald O. Chapman, 82, died peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Wingate at Brewster Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Janebeth (Schaberg) Chapman, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage.
Born on November 5, 1935, in Union, N.J., he was a son of the late Lewis and Jesse Chapman. Donald was a graduate of the University of Michigan, School of Architecture, and was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity. His career was spent working as an architect in New York City.
Donald, known also as Don, and his wife lived in Madison, N.J. for 35 years before moving upon retirement to Harwichport on Cape Cod.
Donald was active in both his communities. He served on the Planning Board of the Madison municipal council for many years and was involved in both the Presbyterian Church in Madison and the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwichport as well as the Chatham-Nauset Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived and will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Jennifer Waldbauer, Emily Cooper, and Carolyn Bishop; his sons-in-law, James Bishop, Simon Cooper and Peter Waldbauer and four grandchildren, Isabel and Otto Waldbauer, Emma Cooper, and Anna Bishop; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his brother, Lewis Rose Chapman, Jr.
