          Malcolm Prince Root passed away peacefully at home in Chatham, on June 28 with his wife Betty and daughter Lisa by his side. 

          Malcolm and Betty (Elizabeth S. Root) recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, having met in Barrington, Rhode Island.  Survived by son Michael, daughters Lisa Moulton and Victoria Root, and granddaughters Melissa Moulton and Emily Moulton. 

          Malcolm was a graduate of Stanford, served in the Navy reaching the rank of Lieutenant, and then worked for IBM for over 30 years in California, Maryland and Connecticut.  Malcolm’s pastimes included swimming, golf, and photography. 

          He was a longtime resident of New Canaan, Conn, Casey Key, Fla. and Chatham. 

          He will be buried next to his first son David who pre-deceased him. A service will be held privately in Connecticut. For online condolences, please visit
