Nola P. Flanagan
NAPLES, Fla. - Nola P. Flanagan, 89, of Naples, Fla. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Bentley Village Health Care Center surrounded by her husband and Ward, one of her sons. Nola was born August 4, 1928 a daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Dolby) Priestley in Attleboro. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ivy Elaine George. Formerly of Sarasota, Fla., where she lived for 29 years, she moved to Estero, Fla. in 2012 before recently relocating to Naples. She spent her summer months in Chatham on Cape Cod, where she owned a home for 61 years. Early in her career, she served as the secretary to the superintendent of the North Attleboro School District. In 1968, together with her husband, they established Management Recruiters, an executive search firm, in New Brunswick, N.J. She retired in 1983.
As an avid golfer and two time Woman’s 9-Hole Champion, she was a member of Bent Tree Country Club and Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota, Fla. and a longtime member of Eastward Ho! Country Club in Chatham. Her other passion was sailing the New England waters with her husband in their 38 foot sloop boat named NOLA. She was also a world traveler visiting England, Europe, South America and the Far East. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James F. Flanagan; children, Linda Sheme of Fort Myers, Fla., Lonna (Robert) Keating of Waretown, N.J., James (Karen) Flanagan III of Matthews, N.C., Wendy (John) Chapman of Naples, Fla., and Ward (Jeanette) Flanagan of Bourne; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail So., Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
