“Home is the sailor, home from the sea, And the hunter home from the hill”

          Charles A. “Babe” Barrett died December 8th peacefully at home after a brief illness.

          Babe was born in Harwich Port on February 7, 1926 to the late Bradford and Doris(Holmes) Barrett.  He was a member of the Harwich High School class of 1944, which he left early to join the war effort.  As a member of the U.S. Navy he participated in the invasion of Normandy as well as service in the Pacific Ocean.  Upon his discharge he returned home to Harwich Port.   

          A life long resident of Harwich Port.  He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.  An electrician by trade who was available day or night.  Although he retired years ago whenever a friend or neighbor needed electrical help he was there to offer his services.

          Babe had a long and fulfilling life and will be missed by family and friends.

          He is survived by his wife of 70 years Jacqueline “Jackie”, daughters Donna(John) Molander of Chatham, Nancy(Steve) Tavares of Dennis and son Charles(Michelle) Barrett of Harwich Port; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sister Eunice(Williams) of Newbury.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Marcia Barrett and brothers Bradford and Donald Barrett.
