Chatham Celebrates Oktoberfest Saturday With Music, Food, Games

A steady stream of people took in the Pumpkin People over the weekend, despite the damp weather.


CHATHAM – Amid a crowd of Pumpkin People in the Park, the town will celebrate Oktoberfest Saturday at Kate Gould Park.

The festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and features food, live music and games for the whole family. Sponsored by the Chatham Merchants Association, the event includes a costume parade at noon; kids and adults are encouraged to show off their Halloween outfits.

Other Oktoberfest highlights include Marcus the Magician at 10:30 a.m.; the Chatham Band playing seasonal favorites at the bandstand at 11:30 a.m.; and music by Super Soulshine at 1 and the Grab Brothers at 3 p.m.

There will also be plenty of games, crafts, face painting and other activities for kids, including Cape Fit Hoops, crafts and “Stella the Fortune Tella.”

Adults can enjoy beer from Devil's Purse Brewing Co., as well as food by local vendors.
