Monomoy Boys Lacrosse Celebrates First Varsity Win

The Monomoy boys lacrosse team earned its first win as a varsity program this week, defeating Sturgis West 11-10 on the road on Monday.

Connor Santoni scored four goals for the Sharks, while Rory Carpenter, Kyle Gabri, and Connor Deveau each netted two and Elijah Beasley scored one. Nick Malone had some strong saves in goal, while the defense was led by Cole Currie, Kyle Charlot, and Riley Demanche.

The game was played in honor of Neville Coomber, father of team member Cam Coomber, who passed away suddenly last weekend.

The Sharks are at home today against Sturgis East beginning at 4 p.m.

Monomoy Boys Basketball Team Receives IAABO Sportsmanship Award

The Monomoy boys basketball team and its fantastic fans tucked another feather in its cap recently when they were presented with the 2016-2017 Sportsmanship Award by the Cape Cod basketball officials, Board 152, International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. The officials honor programs (freshman, junior varsity, and varsity) that demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship including players, coaches, cheerleaders, fans, and administrators.

Monomoy assistant coach Dan Taylor traveled to the April 9 banquet to accept the award.
