Warren G. Sprague

            Warren G. Sprague, 89, of Chatham died at Cape Cod Hospital on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 after a brief illness.

            Born in South Haven, Michigan, the only son of Walter and Elva Sprague, Warren was the beloved husband of former State Senator Jo Ann Sprague for 64 years.  Warren was also the devoted father of Stephen and his wife Joanne of Walpole, Douglas and his wife, Mirian, of Wrentham, Susan Walters and her husband, Rick, of Concord, Margaret Riley and her husband, Jim Hoerle, of Amherst, Julia Mitchell and her husband, Douglas, of Mansfield and David of Nanning, China; and his brother-in-law, Davis Allen and his wife Lorraine of Hope, R.I. He also loved the children of his deceased sister, Beverly Jane Buschman of East Lansing, Mich.

            Warren loved and was loved by his grandchildren Erik Sprague, Allison Sprague Bronner, Christopher, James and Lauren Mitchell, Alex and Nicholas Walters, Luke, Daniel and Andrew Sprague, and his first great grandchild, Charles Warren Bronner.

            Warren joined the Navy in 1945 serving in the Pacific on the USS Attu as part of Operation Magic Carpet.  Warren graduated from Michigan State University where he belonged to Sigma Chi Fraternity. He then served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the Military Police during the Korean War.  It was during this time that he met and married 2nd Lt. Jo Ann Allen.  They loved each other for the next 64 years. Those years held many wonderful hours for them, their children and grandchildren, especially at the Cottage on Thompson Lake in Maine.

            Warren spent his career in the computer science industry first working for IBM and then Honeywell Corp.  He served as Director of Marketing Education, Director of International Marketing and finally Corporate Vice President, Honeywell Bull, Inc.  Though Warren was a caring and effective manager, he was always a salesman at heart.

            Warren was very proud to have been a 47 year member of Azure Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Walpole.

            Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Warren from 10 to noon, with a U.S. Navy Honor Guard presentation at noon, Saturday, Jan.28, at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham.  A Celebration of Warren’s life will be held at the Wayside Inn on Main Street in Chatham from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.   The Sprague Family welcomes your attendance.
