Amos H. Mumford

     Amos H. Mumford, 88, of Chatham died peacefully with many of his family members present on Dec. 29, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital after battling pneumonia.

     Born in Wayne, N.J. in 1928 and son of Harry Mumford and Fredrika

(Steinke) Mumford, graduated from Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and spent 40 years as an art director in advertising for various firms in New York City and New Jersey.  Amos was an award-winning landscape fine arts painter in New Jersey and Massachusetts. He also painted scenes from Venice, Ireland and Maine. Amos s artistic influences were from Franz Hals to Franz Klein.

     He viewed his art as  America s Vanishing Landscape.

     Twenty-four years ago upon retirement to Cape Cod, he worked diligently not only as a fan but the art director/graphic designer for The Chatham A s of The Cape Cod Baseball League.

     Amos and his wife, Mary, married 45 years, both loved to travel.

Alaska, Ireland, Italy and France were favorites. Maine was their last favorite.

     Amos leaves behind wife, Mary B. Mumford, daughters Leigh A.

Mumford, Erin B. Woodward, Judith Guerry; sons Scott Mumford, Timmy Mumford, Chris Mumford; and 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Sean Mumford.

     A memorial will be held in early spring for relatives and friends.
