HARWICH ─ What do you get when you combine six awesome hoop stars, one enthusiastic crowd, and a whole lot of fun? A slamtastic fundraiser with the Harlem Wizards.
As part of an annual tradition, the troupe brought their comedic and basketball talents to Monomoy Regional High School last Thursday for an event that put the fun in fundraiser. For a little more than two hours the Wizards alternated between battling the Monomoy All-Stars, a team comprised of teachers and students and “coached” by Principal Bill Burkhead, and impressing the crowd with high-flying slam dunks and numerous games, tricks, and more.
Hitting the floor this year for the Wizards were Rocket (Rashaan Barner), King Arthur (Arthur Lewis, Jr.), Miles High (Antoine Miguel Millien, Jr.), Skyline (D'onte Woods), Air Jamaica (Dexton Williamson), and Smooth (Robert Young), who delighted fans, especially the younger generation, with their skills and their dance moves.
The event is held each year to raise funds for the junior class of the high school, in this case the Class of 2018.
