William R. Schumann
Willian R. Schumann, 74 of Harwich Port. Died on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital.
Born in Jersey City, N.J. He was the son of the late William C. and Josephine K. Schumann. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gerie Snell Schumann.
A native of Basking Ridge, N.J. Bill graduated from Bernards High and Drew University. He and Gerie lived in Montclair, N.J. And Stamford, Conn. before retiring to Cape Cod 18 years ago. He was employed by General Reinsurance Corporation for 30 years.
Bill served as a trustee of the Harwich Conservation Trust and was proud of its success in preserving land that protects woods, water and wildlife in Harwich. He was an avid reader of non-fiction and a faithful NPR listener. His many interests ranged from opera to Formula One racing to cooking and endless Star Trek episodes. Bill will be remembered for his high ethical standards, insightful views on many subjects, keen way with words, humor, generosity, loyalty to and love of family, friends and his wonderful dogs.
Besides his wife Gerie, Bill is survived by a sister, Nancy J. Schumann of Clinton, N.J. And his brother, Rick Schumann of Millington, N.J. His wife Sue Schumann and their children Jennifer and her husband Jeff Sargent, Marissa and her husband Alan Conley and Ryan and his wife, Erika Schumann, as well as his great nephews and nieces: Tanner and Kellen Sargent, James, Julia and Sydney Conley and Ava Schumann.
