Alison N. Lashway Barabe, 43, of Chatham passed away on July 30, 2016. She was the wife of William D. Barabe, and the daughter of Dorothy (Herbert) and the late Richard F. Lashway Sr. She was born on January 28, 1973 in Northhampton.
She met her future husband in 1997 and moved to Chatham in 1999. She loved the town and the people in it. She was easily recognizable in her father’s red 1964 Ford Galaxie convertible and the “Big” hat she wore while driving it. She cherished the trips to St. Martin she and her husband took to visit Bill’s Aunt Margaret. She loved anything to do with the ocean and was happiest in and around it. Alison graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1991.She was currently employed at Stage Harbor Marine in Chatham.
Alison’s passion in life was caring for her husband and her daughter, cooking and helping those in need. Her infectious smile will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her freezer was always filled with duck and chicken pot pies to give to those who were sick.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Chatham and an active member of Women of Fishing Families (WOFF). She made a mark on a lot of lives in Chatham and her hometown Amherst, MA where she will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind her beloved husband William D. Barabe and their loving daughter Laura Hope Barabe (age 16); her mother Dorothy (Hebert) Lashway; her sister Leandra Hope Thompson and her husband Timothy; her brothers Richard F. Lashway, Jr. and his wife Yvette (Castillo), and Joseph W. Lashway and his wife Mary (Taboni). Several nieces and nephews; Mike, James, Ben, Hannah, Natalie, Christopher, Tyler, Sean, Kate, Kristina and Andrea. Father-in-law Reverend Mike Beckner; mother-in-law Sue (Barabe) Beckner; brothers-in-law Mike Beckner, Jr., Dan Beckner; sister-in-law, Sarah Beckner. Alison was predeceased by her father Richard F. Lashway, Sr. who died on January 2, 2002.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA 02633. The Funeral will take place at the First Congregational Church of Chatham on August 4th at 10:00am. A graveside service will follow at 11:30am at Union Cemetery in Chatham.
