The Cape Cod Chronicle and non-profit Pleasant Bay Community Boating have teamed up to provide the public with live, hyper-local weather information, available anytime.
As part of the partnership, The Chronicle purchased and installed a weather station at PBCB’s campus in East Harwich and South Orleans. The sailing and boating program now has access to accurate wind observations and other weather data observed on-site, rather than having to rely on data from the Chatham Airport or other sites.
In exchange, The Chronicle publishes the weather station data on its website, providing its readers in Chatham, Harwich and Orleans accurate observations from those towns’ shared shoreline on Pleasant Bay. The observations will enhance the Chronicle’s coverage of coastal storms, since it provides more accurate readings of easterly winds than would be possible at locales further inland, like the Chronicle’s offices.
Plans are being finalized to add a webcam at the site, as well.
