HARWICH – Sunny skies over Brooks Park in Harwich highlighted a solid boys tennis win for the Monomoy Sharks against the Nauset Warriors on Saturday, April 28.

As Pickleballers played on the far courts and children frolicked on the nearby playground, the Monomoys boys tennis team got down to the business of winning, beginning with second singles player Nick Russell who defeated Nauset's Michael Sanborn 6-4, 6-4.

In third singles action Ben Roza battled to beat Kellen Perry in a lengthy match that saw strong play from each side, while in first singles Nauset's Ben Garside earned the lone win for his team when he defeated Monomoy's Caleb Pettit in two sets, 6-4, 7-6.

In doubles action the first Monomoy team of Danny Street and Nick Meehan triumphed against the Nauset duo of Caleb Caldwell and Tesfu Kerse-McMillan 7-5, 6-4, while in second doubles Monomoy's Isaiah Stafford and Colin Malone bested Nauset's Ryan Mahoney and Hayden Trudel 7-5, 6-4.

The win puts Monomoy at 5-1 overall for the season, with previous victories coming against Cape Cod Academy, Sacred Heart, Sturgis West, and Rising Tide. The team was slated to host Sacred Heart on Monday (April 30) but saw the matches postponed due to rain.

At press time the Sharks were set to travel to Barnstable to face CCA, with their next home match slated for May 7 against St. John Paul II.
