HARWICH Trying to find innovative ways to raise funds can be a challenge, but the Monomoy All-Sports Booster Club scored big with its latest as Bubble Soccer proved a “pop”-ular event on Sunday night.

Though the weather was wild, student participants eagerly gathered along the sidelines of the turf field at MRHS, ready to don giant inflated bubble suits and play soccer, or at least try to.

The result was nothing short of hilarious, with players bouncing off one another while attempting, often in vain, to find the ball, let alone score a goal. More than a few players, including Troy Olson and Logan Routhier, found themselves upside down, but in Routhier's case redemption was had when his team proved the night's overall winners.

According to Monomoy Superintendent Scott Carpenter, who organized the event with a host of dedicated parent booster club members, the event raised $667. Carpenter deemed it a success given that it was the inaugural event with wacky weather keeping potential crowds at bay. Fans are already looking forward to next year's contest.
