Donahue, Elizabeth (Betty), A, passed away to be one of God’s angels on 7/11/17.
Born 6/6/28 in Jamaica Plains, Betty is predeceased by her younger brother Teddy, and parents Theodore & Catherine Forte Friberg. She is survived by her 8 children: son, Charles (& wife Jeannie) of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Susan of Lancaster, Pa.; daughter Teresa (& husband David) of Harwich; son Gregory of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son Thomas (& wife Catherine) of Sonoma, Calif.; son Daniel (& wife Terezinha) of Clearwater, Fla.; daughter Elizabeth of Chatham; son Mark (& wife Teresa) of Chatham. In addition to her 8 children, she is survived by her 17 grandchildren and 13+ great grandchildren!
Betty had the virtues of prudence, modesty, humility, empathy and charity. She met her beloved husband Charles and enjoyed 69 blessed years together including nearly 67 years as his wife, companion, and best friend. While she started out as a New England Bell operator in her late teens, Betty went on to become a passionate homemaker with an expertise in knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching & quilting. She traveled the world as a US Army wife for 21 years, residing in 10 US states & 4 cities in Germany. The depth of her love & commitment to her beloved husband and family is infinite. She was the cherished matriarch of her family and an inspiration & role model to all who knew her. We know her Spirit & presence will never leave us, and we were blessed to know and love her.
A funeral mass will be held at The Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Chatham, MA on Thurs, 7/20/17 @ 11am followed by a celebratory reception for family and friends. A private burial service will occur on Fri, 7/21/17 at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Loving remembrances may be made at www.tampabay.com/obits.
